The right shoe for a body gone wrong

You stand for eight hours a day. Every evening your feet feel heavy, your back stiff. Conventional safety shoes protect your toes but suffocate your feet and force your body into an unnatural posture with a raised heel.

BAAK Pegasus is the first certified barefoot safety boot according to EN ISO 20345:2024 S3S. It combines complete occupational safety with the natural biomechanics of the foot – aluminum toe cap, textile penetration protection (BAAK NeoShield) made of 100% recycled material and oil-resistant rubber soles.

Materials that work with the body, not against it

The upper is made of abrasion-resistant, water-repellent textile, 40% of which comes from recycled materials. After a few days of use, the material molds to the contours of the foot without a break-in period.

Under the foot is a thin EVA midsole with rubber outsoles that provide grip without isolating from the ground. For safety work, there is certified slip resistance (SR), fuel oil resistance (FO), contact heat resistance up to 300°C (HRO), and ESD protection against electrostatic discharges.

The BAAK NeoShield penetration protection is 50% lighter than steel soles but softer and more flexible. You are protected from nails and sharp objects without the sole becoming stiff, which activates the over 20 foot muscles that otherwise atrophy in conventional work shoes.

Proven technology from a German craft company

BAAK was founded in 1992 in Straelen, Germany. For over three decades, the company has combined physiological foot function with certified safety. Pegasus is the first barefoot safety boot to meet the new 2024 ISO standard.

The boots are already used by professionals in construction, industry and logistics. Testers report minimal break-in period – the material adapts to the foot instead of the other way around.

A daily life without compromises

In six months, you'll stand straighter, your back will feel less tense, and your feet will no longer ache. Harvard researchers have documented a 57.4% increase in foot strength after six months of barefoot shoes. Other studies show a 58.3% reduction in plantar fasciitis pain after twelve weeks.

The aluminum toe cap covers the natural width of the toes without squeezing them together. The zero drop sole keeps the body in a neutral position and reduces stress on the knees, hips and lower back. This is not a shoe that carries you - it's a shoe that lets you carry yourself.

Shoes for real feet

Classic shoes:

In classic shoes, the toes are squeezed together, the foot is placed in an unnatural position and during long walks we can feel discomfort and a great relief when we get home and have to take off our shoes. Long-term use of such shoes can lead to foot problems such as Hallux valgus and Morton's syndrome.

Barefoot shoes:

In barefoot shoes, there must be enough space for the entire foot so that it retains its natural shape. This provides maximum comfort and the toes can be spread out as needed, which increases walking stability. Other important aspects are maximum flexibility and a thin sole that has zero drop. However, BAAK always ships with an insole with a 7mm drop to ease the transition to barefoot shoes for new users.
